Exploring a day in the life of a seven year old girl, ‘Barry’ is a short film written by Guiding Lights awardee Rupert Raby and directed by emerging talent John Michell.

The script of ‘Barry’ was written for the Virgin Media Shorts Competition 2009 and was the result of a collaboration between Rupert Raby, John Michell and cinematographer Faye.  After being joined by editor Jonathan Potts and producers Casey Herbert & Christine Hartland, the team raised independent funding and gathered huge in-kind support from Kodak, Pinewood Studios, Panalux, Take 2 Films, Deluxe and The Hat Factory Post.  This allowed them to shoot ‘Barry’ on 35mm film over a weekend in early June.

After an intense two-week post-production process, Jonathan and the post team completed the film at the end of June 2009.

‘Barry’ is currently being entered into worldwide film festivals, where we hope its touchingly quirky story with a bittersweet edge will attract further international support.
